After having owned and run many successful restaurants in England it was always master chef Steven Hickling's desire to live in France, the home of great food and good wines. When he and partner Sue Welbourne established Moulin de la Ville as an upmarket guest house, as a Michelin Star chef, an evening meal was also offered as an option.
Customers from their restaurants in England who came to stay all agreed that the experience was quite unique, being able to chat with and watch chef whilst he prepared the evening meal. Then sitting down for the meal, talking about food, wine and life in France. During the day visiting local markets and vineyards and even a day out with picnic to St Emilion.
So they have decided to elaborate on this and offer tailor made holidays for those with a passion for food. Not a cookery school with pupils donning aprons and attempting to prepare a 3 course meal to perfection on the first attempt then having to eat it, mistakes and all. The chance to watch how food is prepared, discuss techniques, learn chef's secrets and to join in, if desired, then enjoy an evening meal whilst chatting and drinking wine. Steven and Sue tailor and plan the week or long weekend for up to a maximum of four guests, you may want to drink local wine and learn how to make the perfect Coq au Vin or you may want to drink Gevry Chambertin and learn the secrets of preparing Foie Gras or you may want a little of both.

Steven can give you a insght into a trade that as been his passion and proffesion for the past 35 years.
Moulin de la Ville is the perfect place situated just a short walk from the bastide town of Beaumont du Perigord yet in the peace and quiet of the French country side. In the heart of the Perigord region of France, famous for its truffles and Foie Gras and just over an hour drive from St Emilion and the Bordeaux wine region.
