The region
The bastide of Beaumont du Perigord was built by the English in the 12th c during the 100 years
war between France and England, thus the area is steeped in history.
Beaumont is situated in the middle of the bastides (fortified towns), each one being placed about
16 kms from the other which equated to about a day's march for the defending armies. The
bastides of Montpazier, Villereal, Cadouin, Issigeac and Molieres are all within such a circle.
Further afield there is Sarlet (50kms) and Bergerac (25kms). Bergerac International Airport
is a mere 25 mins away.
OUT & ABOUT
Most of the local towns and villages host a weekly market where fresh local produce and local
wines are sold. Beaumont host a market on Tuesdays and Saturdays, Lalinde on Thursdays,
Issigeac on Sundays, Le Bugue on Tuesdays and an excellent night market at Cadouin on
Monday evening. All are within easy reach of Moulin de la Ville.
